Human Blend by Lori Pescatore
Escaping from them had been difficult enough, now Laney needs to keep hidden. All she wants is to live a normal life, but she is not a normal girl. Very special and mysterious abilities set Laney apart from the human beings with whom she tries to blend. Haunted by flashbacks of the suffering she endured at the hands of her captors, Laney changes her appearance and hides out in a small town. Ignoring her own warnings, she begins a relationship with a local boy named Austin, but the relationship turns dangerous when he begins developing abilities similar to her own. While volunteering at the local hospital, Laney meets Eli, a young doctor whose interest is piqued when he witnesses her mysteriously cure a child's illness. He befriends her due to his growing fascination with uncovering the true nature of her abilities, but not without harboring a few secrets of his own. These secret come to light as he tries to help keep her safe. Despite their efforts, Laney's new life falls apart when she encounters Marcus, a headstrong but somehow familiar new intern who seems to have all the answers to her questions. He reveals just enough to send her into a tailspin; the lies she had been living pale in comparison to the truth. Thoughts of fleeing are thwarted when those from whom she was running find Laney and discover the supernatural similarities she shares with Austin. Can her new friends help her, or is the past destined to repeat itself?
