While waiting at a railroad crossing one night, Matt Walker notices two beams of blue light in the dark night sky. Moving at lightning speed, they engulf his SUV. Matt soon finds that he and his dog Scout have been transported to a barren world filled with runaway vegetation, dilapidated streets and rundown buildings. He hikes to the nearby town of Coopersburg in hopes of an explanation.There Matt stumbles upon some answers along with a young woman named Sharon. Finding themselves in the same situation, they decide to team up. Soon others join them at their compound on Shadow Lake.

They aren't the only displaced teens, however, and some have depraved and devious plans for the new world. To preserve their newfound community, Matt and his friends must go to war.
