Twins Zoey and Emma thought they knew who they were. But after one fatal night, Zoey finds out she is a Grim Reaper, and Emma must pretend to be a witch. The twins are placed on trial in a strange realm they had no idea existed, with people that want them dead. To avoid the death sentence for their parents' crimes, they must pass The Trials with all the other first years at Willows Academy, College for Mystic Fae. Zoey struggles with the new voices in her head, while Emma struggles to figure out who she truly is. The twins grapple with the secrets, lies, and pollical landscape of a realm their parents removed them from.

Threatened on all sides, and unsure who to trust, the twins try to navigate the world of the Fae their parents hid them from. Will they both survive with their head, hearts, and sanity intact?
