Cece Levine didn't believe in aliens right up until she was abducted. Life in space is not what she expected. She lives in a cage. Is left alone all the time. And is going insane with boredom.

When a reptilian thief mistakes her for an exotic pet, Cece decides to just roll with it. Who cares if a spaceship full of snake men thinks she's a glorified dog? She's fed, can walk around, and is safe. This is an improvement. At least until pirates attack and Cece realizes her new owners might be more dangerous than she thought.

Vesex Forthusis has not sacrificed so much to find the Crown of Veresetti only to fail just as his nest's goal is in reach. All they need to do is deliver the artifact their people's elders. Then they will be crowned Sovereigns of Susurex. Every corrupt Susix from home is on their tails trying to steal the crown. They'll need to stay focused to stay alive. The last thing any of them needs is a stray pet running around.
